My Story
Jyshoun Derick McNeil, professionally known by his given name Jyshoun is a singer, songwriter, and aspiring actor.
Born and raised in Boston, Jyshoun is the youngest of his father’s 7 children and the only child of his mother. He credits his grandfather with nurturing his natural singing ability. While driving young Jyshoun around, his grandfather encouraged him to sing along to the radio. It was his grandfather’s advice to learn how to sing both background and lead vocals that shaped his signature self backing recording style.
Jyshoun first gained traction in the music industry when he wrote and performed “All You Need Is Love” a record included in the 2004 film “Hair Show” movie soundtrack.
The very next year he was tapped to perform “Superstar”, a duet with then rising r&b songstress Keyshia Cole on her debut album titled “The Way It Is”.
In 2009 Jyshoun released a single “Incomplete” but decided against releasing a follow up album.
Often mistaken for a rapper due to his multiple tattoos, street sensibility, and hustle like mentality Jyshoun embodies the quintessential R&B artist from Boston.
